The scientists working to tackle aging need a system that is trusted by citizens, managed by a public institution (or an NGO), where, by default (opt out), all health data (anonymized or pseudonymised) can be used for scientific research (and not for any other use). In some countries, they are positive evolutions. The European Commission recently declared it wants citizens from all the Member States to be able to share their health data with healthcare providers and authorities of their choice;
Once, enough data is understood, the next necessary step is to facilitate clinical trials especially for the oldest people. There should be an obligation for ethical committees to decide about trials within a reasonable time. Authorizations should be more standardized, interoperable and transferable between countries. Better standards that allow easier collaboration between institutions, and countries should be created. Another way to accelerate the research could be also via self trials by scientists.
