Klaas Chielens
Biography
Klaas Chielens worked from 2003 to 2009 on multidisciplinary research at the VUB, spanning the fields of IT, Biology, and Linguistics. His research focused on understanding criteria for cultural - memetic - replication under the supervision of Francis Heylighen. During that time, he (co-)authored several publications on the subject, including a paper presented on the 2005 conference of the Society for the Study of Artificial Intelligence and the Simulation of Behaviour (AISB) and a chapter in the Encyclopedia on Complexity and System Science (Springer, 2009). After his work in academia, Klaas has worked in several IT related functions. He is currently the Director of Applications at the Federal Public Service Justice of the Belgian Government.
