*CANCELLED* CLEA SEMINAR. Kinetics of Opinion Shifts: Work in progress for forensic professionals - by Didier Bazalgette & Jean Langlois-Berthelot

Location: VUB Etterbeek campus - room D.2.09 + online
Add to personal calendar

Decision sciences share common features with physics and biology. The large number of interacting agents renders decision sciences amenable to statistical physics approaches and agent-based models. However, these models generally have low operational applicability. In this seminar, Bazalgette and Langlois-Berthelot will share a work in progress that investigates the "kinetics of opinion shift" in the context of subversion exposure.

About the speakers

Dr. Didier Bazalgette has worked for several decades in the (French) General Directorate of Armament and was in charge of selecting and coordinating R&D projects in Artificial Intelligence, Neurosciences, Human-Machine Technologies and Social Sciences. The majority of his R&D reports were confidential for security reasons. After his PhD in Physiology, Bazalgette participated actively in major European projects in systemic analysis and complex systems analysis. As an expert in operational research - and being a member of the General Directorate of Armament - he always looks at complex systems analysis from a problem-solving perspective.

Dr. Jean Langlois-Berthelot is an associate researcher at CLEA and at the French Military Academy of Saint-Cyr. He met Didier Bazalgette in 2016 when he was working for the French Ministry of Armed Forces as a senior advisor. Since then, he maintained a very fruitful dialogue with Bazalgette. Learning from Bazalgette’s experience in the field of strategic analysis, Langlois-Berthelot has developed his own strategic analysis research focusing on three main axes: 1) Transcultural strategic analysis; 2) Systemic and dynamic strategic analysis and 3) Financing and sustaining innovation in the NBIC revolution (Nanotechnologies, Biotechnologies, Information technologies and Cognitive sciences).
