You are invited to join us this weekend at CurieuCity Arts and Science festival, in Brussels (https://curieucity.brussels/nl/), a collaboration between the VUB, the ULB, and others, where CLEA will be presenting a triptych of workshops for a general audience exploring the relationship between play, systems, and the emergence of knowledge.
The three workshops by CLEA ArtScience take place on Sunday, 01 Dec. The festival as a whole runs the entire weekend from Friday 29 Nov to Sunday 01 Dec, around the Place du Jeu de Balle in Brussels, with many interesting (free!) workshops, works and performances, including Signals by Bambi Benkö, works by Ohme, and Raoul Sommeillier & Cécile Cuny (which includes an interview with Jean-Paul Van Bendegem) many of whom you may remember from the first CLEA Systems At Play: Self-Organising Symposium On Self-Organisation, in 2023.
Workshop 1, Sunday 11h - 12h20
Systems At Play: Regenerate Your Knowledge – A Living Archive Tour
What if Knowledge Isn’t Fixed Facts, but a Living, Evolving Process? Together, we will experience the archive as a lens for renewable knowledge—continuously regenerated through processes of selection, organisation and connection.

Workshop 2, Sunday 16h - 16h50
Systems At Play: 101 – Introduction to Play and Systems Thinking
In this workshop we’ll introduce the basic concepts we at CLEA use to describe and understand how systems in nature work. Concepts such as “agent”, “relationship”, “system”, “feedback loops”, and “emergence” will be explored through games.

Workshop 3, Sunday 17h - 18h
Systems At Play: Systemic Simulations – Becoming Swarm, Organism, Algorithm
In this workshop, we’ll extend the principles developed in the first workshop to share and invent new games together. These games will use systemic principles to simulate the functions of different kinds of systems, such as swarms, organisms, collective minds, and computer algorithms.
